An answer to prayer, I think. I had Joana over for dinner last week, and was really encouraged by my conversations with her. I think I may have found a potential good friend my age. Yay!
me and Joana
A few weeks ago, I ran to the local supermarket to pick up a few groceries. I didn't have any small change on me, so instead of giving me my 10 cents change, the cashier gave me a candy supposedly worth 10 cents. Pretty normal for supermarkets here. I didn't think much of it until I crossed the street to go to the farmacy to pick up some medication and since I didn't have the exact change, I was given 50 cents worth of VITAMINS instead of change!! What?! So, with one candy, 3 vitamin C tablets, and 60 cents less in my pockets, I finally finished my shopping. Sheesh.
I'm homesick. I miss the snow. I miss crisp, fall mornings. I miss cheerios for breakfast, bagels for lunch, and my mom's homemade chicken noodle soup for dinner with yummy wholegrain bread. I miss falling asleep to the sound of the river. I miss the smell of wet aspen leaves in the fall. Maybe I just miss being a kid, and all the freedom from responsibility, hard decisions, and the ugly realities of life. Lord, fill me up and fill these holes I have, so I can just rest in You and You alone. Amen.

So, long story short, I would love some communication from home. My folks and brother come down to visit me in about a month, and would be able to bring mail down with them for me. You can send me mail to their address:
745 Sebree Place
Carbondale, CO 81623
Keep in mind that they fly out on Christmas day, so plan on mail getting there by no later than the 20th so they have time to pack it:)
Thanks for your constant support. My community at home is what gives me the foundation I need to be a servant here. Thank you for the role you play in my life!

Hilarious - I wish that our stores operated like that: giving out 10-cent candies for change! haha, and the vitamins part reminded me of Halloween. That's what Bill Robinson gives out to trick-or-treators: a packet of multi-vitamins! ;) I'll be praying for you mi amiga. I went on a good hike through Holmberg with Nathan these evening! It reminded me of our hike through the snow our junior year, and you got mad at me because you were wearing sandals! haha. Ciao, Keith
Hey katie - Its good that you're openly expressing where you're at. That's the best thing to do, as oppose to trying to keep a perfect face that has no need of fall and cheerios:) Its this realness that draws others to you.
Thinking and praying for you!

Katie, I love hearing your stories and am thinking of you and praying for you. I promise that you are missed here as much (probably more) as you may be missing being here.
How wonderful that your family gets to visit you so soon! I hope you have an amazing time with them!
